Diorama of a Native American Home

During these past weeks we have been learning about the characteristics of the major Native American Regions and the lifestyles of the tribes that inhabited them. To conclude this thematic unit, you have been assigned to build a 3D diorama representing the housing of a particular Native American tribe and to complete a report. You may choose one of the tribes that we have studied during the past couple of weeks: Cherokee, Algonquian and Great Lakes, Iroquois, Seminole, Navajo, Apache, Great Plains, Pueblo and Zuni, Northwest Coastal Indians, California and Intermountain, and Inuit.
Your model should be as realistic as possible. It must also include a visible label stating the name of the tribe researched in addition to the student’s first and last name. Don’t forget to be as creative as possible!
Very Important: Do not attach the report to your model, since it has to be turned in
separately to be graded. Use the rubrics provided to make sure that all required elements have been included and properly revised to earn the highest score possible. You will be graded as a group, so it is very important that you work effectively as a team.
What should your Native American diorama include?
1) A handcrafted tribal home of your choice
2) A background showing details regarding the environment/landforms
3) At least one example of a food source (animal or crop)
4) At least one Native American wearing the tribe’s traditional clothing, which can be a modified toy or a character made from tag board or Model Magic clay.
5) An item of your choice that directly relates to the tribe that you have
chosen.
Be as creative as possible!
